Again delayed on my way home: this time by cyclone Vance washing out the tracks near Kalgoorlie. Three other chaps and myself were stranded at Keswick terminal in Adelaide for four days, ostensibly because of having no money - this, in my case, was not true: I was in it for the adventure! The first night a security guard let us in to a lounge car to sleep, and for the next three we had a little tin shed across the tracks to call home! When we finally did get on the train to Perth I realised that due to a travel agent mis-reading my student card, I was booked to travel under the name 'John Curtin'! I demanded special treatment as the only dead Prime Minister travelling!
