Day zero of the conference started for me with a meetup with the Gawler History wiki team. It was wonderful to meet in person the people I'd been seeing regularly for a few months.
Then a bit over twenty Wikimedians went on a behind-the-scenes tour of the SA Museum with Keith Maguire (and others). He's the collections' data manager (I think), and talked about many interesting things. They have vast collections, and process them in the "reverse order of ephemerality". Unfortunately, my further notes are slightly indecipherable: "One item or 2000 docs? 0.2% on fogplat. Flautal people ahead or flora? We're not going anywhere. Taxonomical impediment." Buggered if I know what I was on about.
After the tour, we had a big group dinner at a long table at Little NNQ Vietnamese at 125 Gouger Street.
