I used to use Dokuwiki for quite a few websites, but gave up on it for two non-Dokuwiki related reasons: I stopped working at the place at which we used it for an intranet; and I started working for the Wikimedia Foundation, and now do everything with MediaWiki. I still think Dokuwiki is a pretty great piece of software. Probably these days for similar uses (simple text files, web-based editing, etc.) I'd go for a Sphinx-built site managed on Github and hosted on Netlify.
