I'd heard about GovHack for years, but 2022 was the first time I actually signed up to take part. We actually thought of just going to the opening, which was at the new Walyalup Civic Centre in Fremantle, and not sticking around for the whole weekend — but in the end, it looked like it'd be fun, and we did manage to get a project done by 5PM on Sunday. ('We' is me and Maia.)
The challenge we responded to was: "How can we use Open Data to most benefit residents of Fremantle?" set by the City of Fremantle. Our project was the Fremantle Neighbourhood Explorer. It takes the ABS meshblocks of Freo and displays interesting info about them.
